Why has hip-hop been dead for a decade?
70Hip Hop music has seen better days and with most of the more popular artists and 'real' rappers taking it underground hip hop seems to be dead. At one time the hip hop industry had a ton of great rappers that could bring it to you and bring about that message. Today we have more commercialize rappers worried about appealing to the radio. Growing up I can remember artists such as South Central Cartel, NWA, Ice-T, 2Pac, Spice 1, MC Eiht and Comptons Most Wanted. Those were the real rappers the ones who brought more than just a song but had a message in their music. Artists like Ice-T telling us how it was in the hood and speaking on the truth of what was and is going to be. Rappers such as 2Pac who gave us hits like 'Me Against The World', 'Deat Momma' and artists like MC Eiht who took us to Compton and through his music showed us the streets.
Those days are not gone but instead have gone underground with most of these artist sticking to what they feel is right. Today though we have artists that fabricate who they are to make a song on the radio. Have we seen the end of hip hop and what will it take for a return?
We do have great artists out there today who bring it and give us a message with real words and no lies. Those artists are few and spread but they are out there.
Return of real Rap
Over the past two years we have seen the return of real rap music that music that is not for the radio and is filled with lyrics that have a meaning and a message. We will never see another 2Pac or Biggie but we do have such artists like Crooked I who brings it hard and real, We still have rappers like Ice-T who can drop an album ever few years and still keep it real and not give into the radio and the public view. Real Rap is returning and with it we will see the decline in 'fakers' as the real artists set it right and show them that hip hop is not about the radio but about what is real.
Hip Hop has changed a lot over the years and with it some bad and some good, for most of it though we have seen the worst that rap can offer and it is nice to hear good hip hop again. For those who think that it will never be the same you can still go and pick up copies of CD'S from the great artists like 2PAC and BIGGIE.

Final Thoughts
Yes Hip Hop has seen a decline in the past decade and for that reason the 'mainstream' artists have become popular and most people who grew up in the late 90's don't know who the true veteran rappers are or know what the meaning of the music was. I was lucky to grow up in the era of NWA, Ice-T, Ice Cube, The Geto Boys, Spice One, South Central Cartel and all the legends, it gave me a better understanding of what hip hop is and was. Yes I had a tear in my eye when I heard 2Pac got died and it hurt me as if I knew him personally, but through his music and his message I understood.
We can see those days again and there are still new artists out there such as Crooked I, Ice T, Ice Cube, Naughty by Nature and others who are releasing real music for the people and not giving into the radio play and forgetting about the message. I think that with all the 'fake' artists out there these days we need not forget where hip hop came from and who the generals in the hip army are. Today I listen to rap music that I did back in the day and to me the new albums are still like the old days and brings back memories for me of my teen years.
