How Safe is it to link our credit cards with a Paypal Account! Big Companies Add PP!
By Ghostwolfe
Paypal has been growing not only in users but also in security over the past 12 years and they are still going strong. One out of every 2 people in the world has a paypal account and use it everyday to purchase goods on the internet and receive payments for selling items and services. Paypal makes it easy for users to navigate their website and use all the features available to them everyday. Paypal is linked to many large companies as well that have accounts in order to make business easier for their customers. This is because pp is a trusted company among other businesses and consumers across the globe and with the constant monitoring of customers accounts people not only have a normal bank account but they also hold an active pp account as well.
When you create a paypal account you are asked to link either
- A Credit Card
- Bank Account
- A Debit Card
This is used for two reasons, one is to verify that you are at least 18 years of age or older and secondly to cover anything amount that is not available in your paypal account at the time. When you link one of the three listed above to your account either it being a new pp account or an active one you are covered not only by your bank or credit card companies security but also by paypals security as well.
But is my Credit Card Safe?
When you add a credit card to your paypal account you are protected not only by paypal but also by your credit card company as well. Your credit card number is never fully displayed in your paypal account, the last four digits are only visible to help the user recognize which card (s) are linked and if the user chooses to remove one they know which one to remove. Any linked credit cards are not touched for any reason during purchases as long as the funds are available in your account to cover the purchases. Your credit card is secured by constant monitoring from paypals security division for unauthorized use, unusual purchases and other things that could put your cc or pp account at risk. Your credit card company also covers your card with it's own line of security and stop payment features.
If you use your paypal account for transactions on the web and you do not have the amount in your account to cover the purchases, pp will charge the over-due amount to your credit card though your card information is never shared with retailers and your cc is protected through many layers of data encryption. In a sense your credit card is safer linked to paypal then it is when you use it at your local corner store or pay for pizza using it.
Final Thoughts
Paypal has been around since 1995 and over those years not only have they improved security but they have been working close with many other financial institutes to make sure that users money is safe and secure. With all the security features and layers of protection on your paypal account you are safe as is your credit card. If something does take place, a simple call to pp customer service and you can have everything looked into and the problem or error fixed.
Paypal has to be trusted and secure if you think about the big name companies that have accounts.
- Microsoft
- hubpages
- Apple
- HP
- Dell
If your credit card information wasn't safe using paypal would any of those companies named above have anything to do with them? The fact that paypal is secure allows for big companies like Microsoft to have an account and allow it's customers to shop and pay using paypal.

It is a relief to know that Paypal account and the linked credit card are secure. I already have an account, but many have asked me whether it is 100% secure. I will bookmark this article and share it with them. Voted up and useful.
